A Message from our Chairman, Roy Kinnear

I wanted to update you about a few organisational changes currently taking place at Hong Kong Scottish.

After almost 30 years in Asia our Finance Director, Stephen Mercer, is leaving Hong Kong to return to the UK. Both Stephen and his wife, Emma are well known faces within HK Scottish and their presence in Hong Kong will be missed. In particular, I will miss Stephen’s very wise in situ counsel. He has helped manoeuvre HK Scottish through a very difficult period in Hong Kong. I am delighted to say, Stephen has agreed to continue in his position as Finance Director of HK Scottish from his home in the UK and I am sure Emma will continue to be as involved, if not more, with Netball and all things HK Scottish from afar.

Our General Manager, Sarah Monaghan, indicated to me some time ago that having been in the role for three enjoyable seasons, it was time to move on at the end of the season. This decision was very much her own, the timing of the end of the season was not. Sarah will be missed but I am sure she will remain a strong supporter of the club she has helped steer through some very difficult times. Sarah will continue in her position until the end of March 2022

I am pleased to announce that we have appointed Stephen Dowse as our interim General Manager.  This will be a part time position for now.  Stephen was involved with helping establish Hong Kong Scottish 11 years ago and is a well known name at the club and in the Hong Kong rugby community.  He will work with our board, coaches, players, sponsors and other key club constituents to ensure we maintain a high level of service to all members in what is a very difficult environment.

On behalf of all at the club, I would like to wish Stephen and Emma Mercer, Sarah Monaghan and Stephen Dowse all the very best for the future.
