Last week marked the first ever Pass It On Rugby Programme between Hong Kong Scottish and Changing Young Lives Foundation.
The Hong Kong Scottish Community Scheme will provide coaches to children that attend the Changing Young Lives Centre in Shek Kip Mei, which is located next to the Hong Kong Scottish home ground.
Craig Hammond, Hong Kong Scottish head coach said, “Its great to be involved with a charity organisation like Changing Young Lives Foundation. The work they do with the children in the Shek Kip Mei area is incredible nd something we were keen to be involved in with it being our home area.
We are delighted to be able to offer them rugby coaching through the Pass It On Rugby Programme as we feel it will teach the children disciplines that will aid them in life. The chance for them to be coached by 3 internationals in Tim Usasz (USA), Craig Wilson (HK) and Hrishi Pendse (india) is something they probably don’t fully appreciate yet but hopefully is something they will look back on fondly in years to come. You never know, we might just uncover a future HK international like Craig Wilson along the way too!”
The children, who range in age from 9-20 years old, will train at Shek Kip Mei every Friday.
The Changing Young Lives Foundation Vision:
Our vision is of a world where children of all ages are protected from abuse, neglect and exploitation and kept safe at all times, where they have shelter, food, health care and education. These are the basic requirements for the sound development of all children. We see our young people, who are at risk or disadvantaged, trusting and believing in themselves and feeling good about who they are and all the great things they can do. We see them exploring and realizing their talents and abilities to the fullest, and having the self-assurance and courage to reach out for their dreams.
