I would walk 5,911 miles more…

In 2020, Hong Kong Scottish and supporters, walked the distance from Shek Kip Mei (The Rock) to Murrayfield in Scotland…a total of 5,911 miles. Raising a huge total of $350,000HKD, with half of that going towards My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

In 2024 we want to walk 5,911…more. Once again in the name of Doddie and the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation!

Join us as we start walking/running/jogging on the 9th December, covering 5,911 miles in 7 days, finishing on the 15th December.

How does it work?

Signing up means that you for the week 9th to the 15th December you are committing to helping HK Scottish and the Hk Scottish community travel (virtually) from Shek Kip Mei (our home in HK) to Doddie’s spiritual home and the home of Scottish rugby, Murrayfield.

When signing up you have the choice of committing to walk, hike or run:

10k

25k

50k

100k

As soon as you reach your target in walk week, you will be added to a prize draw for each of the 4 different distances. Prizes are tiered according to the distance that you have walked.

Please stay tuned to hear what fantastic prizes we’ve secured for each distance.

How do I log my miles?

Once you’ve signed up, download strava (the free version is fine for this challenge). You will be instructed via email to join a group, called I would walk 5911 miles….more. Then throughout walk week any walking, hiking, running that you do, big or small, please log on strava. This will then automatically count towards the miles within the group.

Please remember that even if you are walking, only things logged as a run will be counted towards the miles.

Do I have to be in HK?

No, absolutely not! Last time we had people sign up for, over 30 different countries.

If you are in Hong Kong though please look out for our group, runs and hikes that will be going on throughout walk week, these events will include a Bowen road hike, a peak circular hike, a harbour run and  the full HK trail on the Sunday of the event. These are completely voluntary but great fun.
