Registered Section 88 Charity in Hong Kong
Do you want to support the foundation?
For the past decade Hong Kong Scottish have been active in the community delivering CSR and philanthropy sessions that have ranged from sports coaching sessions, English lessons, Christmas gift drops and food delivery walks with various NGO’s including The Hub, the Society For Community Organisation, Love 21 Foundation, Impact Hong Kong, Changing Young Lives Foundation and the My Name Is Doddie Foundation.
Charity initiatives have been at the core of the club, our members and corporate partners since the club’s inception back in 2011 so naturally it made sense to register as a charity. The club has successfully set up a limited company The Hong Kong Scottish Foundation and achieved section 88 charitable status in 2023.
We aim to be right at the heart of the communities we represent. We recognise how rugby and sport can be used as a social development tool to bring communities together, enhance the health and wellbeing of the local community and their families.
CHARITY OBJECTIVES
Hong Kong Scottish Foundation [HKSF] aims to address two major issues in Hong Kong:
Advancement of Education
To benefit the wider community by making them healthier and more employable
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The lesson starts in the classroom and begins with the students reading in small groups to each other, there are questions and answers from the teacher / coach based on the reading material and the class is fully interactive and engaging with an emphasis on encouraging two-way communication. The reading material is based on sports, healthy eating and fun stories which relate to the sporting session that will follow the classroom learning.
The lesson then moves outside where sports and fun games are introduced in English to the children. The children are encouraged to listen and repeat some of the words they have just learned in the classroom – “Say it then play it.”
There will be various elements of sport introduced but there will not be actual matches against opposition. Rugby, Netball and Football will be the sports used in these outdoor lessons and it will all be non-contact, safe sporting and exercise drills. All communication will be delivered in English by qualified, bilingual coaches.
These interactive classes encourage the students to communicate with each other in a fun and safe environment, their communication skills will improve while they are exercising and keeping fit. These classes will be free for the children to attend and all equipment, reading material and stationary will be provided.
