Hong Kong Scottish is pleased to announce the appointment of Will Webster as the club’s new Club Coaching Officer (CCO) - a key leadership role that will help shape the direction, standards, and long‑term development of rugby across the entire club.

Will steps into the role following an impactful year as Forwards Coach for Hong Kong Scottish, where he contributed to the development of the forward pack and supported the growth of the club’s performance environment. He also led the Scottish Exiles campaign at the HKFC 10s, guiding the squad through a competitive and high‑profile tournament. Chair Simon Lowth welcomes the appointment, noting:
“Will brings a depth of coaching experience that will add real value to our rugby programme. His understanding of the Hong Kong landscape, combined with his international background, positions him perfectly to support the next phase of development across the club.”

Will’s coaching career spans multiple high‑performance environments. He has held significant roles within Kenya Rugby, serving as both Head Coach and Assistant Coach, contributing to national‑team development and elite performance structures. He has also taken on defence coaching responsibilities for the Hong Kong China Men’s team, giving him deep insight into the demands of international rugby.

Alongside his international credentials, Will has Hong Kong Premiership head coach experience, strengthening his understanding of the domestic competition. His coaching journey also includes a standout achievement in Major League Rugby (MLR), where he was part of the New England Free Jacks’ three-in-a-row title‑winning campaigns, a testament to his ability to contribute to success at the professional level.

Beyond the technical side of the game, Will is the co‑founder of The Leadership Circle, an initiative focused on leadership development, culture building, and personal growth - experience that will add significant value to the club’s coaching environment and player‑centred approach.

Over the past year I’ve seen first‑hand the commitment and character within this club, and I’m honoured to step into a role that supports its wider rugby direction. My aim is to build an environment where players and coaches can grow, challenge themselves, and enjoy their rugby. I’m looking forward to working closely with the whole Scottish clan as we take the next steps forward.” - Will Webster

Will’s appointment marks an exciting moment for Hong Kong Scottish as we continue to build depth, structure, and ambition within our rugby programme. His leadership, experience, and holistic approach to player development will play a central role in shaping the club’s rugby environment for the seasons ahead.

Hong Kong Scottish is delighted to welcome Will into the role and looks forward to the positive impact he will bring both on and off the field.
