Hong Kong Scottish RFC is delighted to announce the appointment of Scotland and Glasgow Warriors Prop Alex Allan as Assistant Coach ahead of the 2021/22 Saxo Markets Premiership season.

The international prop brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience at the highest level with 109 caps for Glasgow Warriors in the Pro 14 and 8 caps for Scotland.

The well-respected Glasgow Warriors centurion takes on a dual role as coach-player and will also be working with the Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) as a front row specialist coach within their performance programmes.

Alex Allan said “I’m really excited to be taking up this dual role coaching Hong Kong Scottish and the Hong Kong national team. This gives me the opportunity to share what I have learnt from my experiences and take the next step in my coaching career. I can’t wait to get over there and meet the teams.”

Roy Kinnear, Chairman of Hong Kong Scottish said “We are thrilled to welcome Alex to the Club. He managed to survive a rigorous interview process and so no doubt will bring those capabilities, along with this vast international experience and the regard in which is held in Scotland and beyond, to the role – both on and off the field.”

Robbie McRobbie, CEO of the HKRU said “The HKRU is delighted to see an individual of the calibre of Alex coming to join our rugby community; as a Scottish international and a Glasgow centurion, his experience and knowledge of the dark arts of the front row will be invaluable for both club and our rep teams. I am sure that Alex’s presence will further strengthen the famous Hong Kong Scottish culture, and on a personal note it’s great to see another Scot on board.”

We look forward to welcoming Alex and fiancé Catriona to the clan soon!
