Nationality: Kiwi (NZ)
Heritage: Samoa
Nickname: G
Favourite rugby player: Kevin Mealamu
Interesting fact: 100m sprint champ at high school 😂

Can you tell us a bit about your rugby journey/background to date? (How you started playing and which clubs you’ve played for etc…)

I played for a number of years in NZ. I played Club rugby for Ponsonby in Auckland, NZ School boys in 2010, then signed with Auckland Mitre 10 Cup 2012 to 2014. I was selected in the NZ under 20’s in 2012, but didn’t travel due to injury.

I was then called into the Blues 2013 as injury cover for Keven Mealamu. I later played Mitre 10 Cup for Counties Manukau 2015 to 2018. In 2018 I also represented the Samoa A.

I travelled to Perth in 2019 and played for Cottesloe winning the 1st Grade comp. I then went on to represent Perth Gold in the 2019 NRC 2 competition. In 2020 joined the Manly Marlins in the Shute Shield.

What did you study at University and what do (did) you do for work? I have a Diploma in Sport and Recreation. I worked for a coffee roasting boutique and did a bit of security work in Manly. If you weren’t a rugby player, which other sport/s would you play? I’d be a boxer. What are you looking forward to most about life in Hong Kong and playing for Hong Kong Scottish? I look forward to playing some decent footy with the club, catching up with some old mates and making some new ones.
What should we expect from you next season (on and off the pitch)? On the field, nailing my key roles within the team and putting my best foot forward week in week out. Off the field, have a bit of fun and experience the HK lifestyle. Do you have any hidden talents…? No hidden talents here, what you see is what you get. What’s your favourite pre-match song? Booyah Tribe – “Bang On.” We look forward to seeing Gafa in red and blue this season!
