This game will be remembered mainly for the injuries as the scoreline will hopefully be forgotten. HKS’s new signing Mike Lees, an ex Western Force Academy player made his debut at full back and had an immediate impact after scorching down the wing straight from the opening kick off. Unfortunately that was as long as Mike’s evening lasted as he landed awkwardly on his shoulder and had to be replaced. This was then followed by injuries to key forwards Alex Kaihau and Karewa Forbes along with a yellow card for prop John Aikman to finish off a miserable opening half for Scottish. This was further soured by an injury to centre Tom Bury who did not appear for the 2nd half having scored HKS’s only points of the first half through a drop goal.

In between these injuries, HKCC seemed to run in tries at will as Scottish failed to deal with the disruption caused by the injuries.

In the second half, with HKS down to 14 men, they seemed to find another gear and scored two quality tries through substitute wing Pacal De Gaulle and fly half James Murray who intercepted a pass and ran half the length of the pitch to score under the posts. This resurgence was unfortunately short lived as HKCC found their rhythm again and proceeded to run in further tries to give them the convincing victory they deserved.
